Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Located in the northeastern corner of the state, covering 847square miles, Middlesex County was created by the Massachusetts General Court on May 10, 1643, when it was ordered that “the whole plantation within this jurisdiction be divided into four shires.” Middlesex initially contained Charlestown, Cambridge, Watertown, Sudbury, Concord, Woburn, Medford, Wayland, and Reading. In 1649 the first Middlesex County Registry of Deeds was created in Cambridge. The name means territory of the middle Saxons and refers to the tribal origin of its inhabitants. The word is formed from the Anglo-Saxon, i.e. Old English, ‘middel’ and ‘Seaxe’
The county is infamous as the site of the first armed conflict of the American Revolutionary War which occurred on April 19, 1775.
As of 2016, the estimated population was 1,589,774, making Middlesex County the 21st most populous county in the United States, and the most populous county in both Massachusetts and New England. As of 2006, Middlesex County was tenth in the United States on the list of most millionaires per county. Visitors to the area won’t want to miss a performance of the Middlesex County Volunteers, a fife and drum corps that plays music from the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

The key to a successful estate plan is making sure it always reflects your current needs and goals. The plan you create when you are young, single, and just beginning your career will not be sufficient to meet your needs later in life when you have a family and a larger estate to consider. Routine reviews and revisions are crucial to ensure that your estate plan reflects your life as it is now, not as it was several years ago. Your initial estate plan, for example, may be focused entirely on ensuring that, should something happen to you, you don’t leave behind an intestate estate. Consequently, a Last Will and Testament may be all you need in the beginning. Marriage, children, and a growing estate, however, call for a more complex estate plan. A trust may be needed to protect your minor child’s inheritance, for instance, as well as serving as an incapacity planning tool. Eventually, you may also decide to incorporate additional components into your comprehensive estate plan, such as asset protection, probate avoidance, and business succession planning. If you have a child with special needs, special needs planning will be a critical addition to your estate plan. As you contemplate retirement, Medicaid planning should be added to your plan and your retirement plan merged with your estate plan to ensure harmony between the plans. To guarantee that your wishes are honored at the end of your life, Advanced Directives should be executed and funeral and burial planning incorporated into your estate plan.
At Legacy Care Law Firm our goal is to be with you every step of the way along your life’s journey. By developing a life-long relationship with you we believe we are able to do much more to protect you, your assets, and your loved ones.
